Hash House A Go Go - Imperial Palace Las Vegas

New thing of the day, tried Hash House A Go Go - restaurant in Las Vegas.

We watch Man vs Food and one of his shows featured this place in Vegas called Hash Hash a Go Go. It had massive portions and as they say in the promos "Twisted Farm Food". We were staying in Vegas and our hotel Imperial Palace - also a first/new thing - had this restaurant in their lobby. I was so frickin excited to try it out so we woke up on Saturday and decided to have Brunch there.

So, we had a 20 minute wait for our table, and as I was excited and hungry we knew by the time we sat down what we wanted to order. Our waiter was nice but really inattentive. He sat us down, got our drink orders, then I was like "we know what to order so can we put in our order now" and he said "sure thing let me get your drinks and i'll be right back to take your order". 15 minutes later he comes back with a soda that took 15 minutes to get/find, then he takes our order? He says that they cook to order so it may take time, and I was fine waiting, so we waited.

We waited, and waited and waited. About 30 minutes passed by and nothing. That's fine, but it wasn't really even that crowded in our section and it was tough just to get refills on our soda and water because our waiter wasn't really around. We saw other waiters and servers a lot more than we saw our waiter. We saw other people waiting awhile for their food and we were ok. Then, 30 minutes into our wait for food, during which I'm quite patient, we see another couple seated next to us. They look at the menu and our waiter takes their order right away. About 20 minutes later (at this point we've waited 50 minutes), the couple next to us gets their orders!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!

I was soooo pissed! It's fine if everyone waits a ridiculous amount of time for their food, but the fact that the people who came in after us got their food before us was ridiculous. We waited another 10 minutes for our food - that's ONE HOUR for a meal to be set in front of us after we order.

By this time, I was so pissed off at our wait, that I had a hard time enjoying the food. I ordered a sage fried chicken benedict - the Man vs Food favorite dish. Basically it was a biscuit, mashed potatoes, tomato, egg, cheese and chicken covered in a chipotle cream sauce. It was a lot of food and good food, not great or amazing. The chicken was juicy and tender and the breading was good, but I couldn't taste it over the bitter of my wait time.

My husband ordered the Kokomo Burger - a meatloaf burger and a signature dish. The best part about this dish was the massive bread it was on - so fresh and buttery good. The fries were good too. The meatloaf, dry and not too tasty.

It was an overall disappointment. Overall I found it very difficult to enjoy because of the ridiculous wait time and our inattentive waiter. We even tipped him decently but I severely regret it. I'm usually open to giving things second chances and trying it again. Perhaps this was just unlucky. But I'm absolutely furious at our service and the average overrated quality of the food. It was good, giant portions don't make it great. Plus we're in Vegas so what the heck are we going to do with all those leftovers?

We boxed it all up and as we were walking the strip gave it to a homeless person. I was a bit sad because we gave all 2 boxes of leftovers to just one homeless person. We kept walking and saw more homeless, and I wished that we'd saved a box for the next person we saw. Oh well.

Anyway, I'm very distraught by this experience and not sure I'll try it again. I was whole heartedly disappointed. I wanted to love this place and I was incredibly excited to try their food. Husband brought up an excellent point - not every new experience can be a great or positive one. This is true. I just really wished/wanted this one to be a great. Oh well.

It's interesting but the more I'm trying new things, the more it's been amiss. Usually I try new things and 80% is good. These days it feels like the percentage is going down, about 70%. Maybe because I am trying more new things, not just better bets, so I'm hitting more misses than usual.

Anyway, this is what was left of my benedict. A ridiculous giant mess, just like the restaurant.
