Sheldon made Filipino food! And he won with Filipino food! And he did really well with Filipino food! He cooked with soul! He cooked with heart! And he cooked with my people's food! Oh it's pretty awesome and I just saw this episode. Was so excited and so happy that Filipino food and culture was represented so well.
Yeay Sheldon Simeon and the Urbano restaurant! This totally cheered up my Monday. I had a case of the Mondays today, so this was an awesome end to it.

No Power
New thing today, came home to no power, and still no electricity at 10:30pm. Ya I guess Edison is fixing something so our entire complex is in the dark. We can't even open our garage, which has all our camping supplies and lanterns. So we have 4 tiny Harbor Freight flashlights we're using in the house. So it's like living in the olden days. Kind of fun but also not. Only what is left on our phone batteries keeping us linked or entertained by the world.
I hope the food in our fridge/freezer survives. Also I hope the evening isn't too warm in our house because we like sleeping when it's cool. Eh. Also I kind of like how annoying, weird, different perspective this thing forces us to be. It's an annoying inconvenience, but an interesting one too. Getting around by listening and remembering rather than seeing. Also just attuning yourself and using other senses. I'm going to try to shower in the dark/flashlight so it should be interesting.
Happy Friday?!
A self portrait of what I look like right now. Ya.

Superheroes by The Script
New thing today, really listened to this song and loved it - Superheroes by The Script. Also saw the video and made me all teary eyed. The music video was filmed at a township in South Africa and the band said - per Wikipedia -
The location of the video's principal photography was inspired by the song itself, with Danny O'Donoghue stating that, "We spent a few days there and spent a lot of time with the people in the township, because they are our superheroes".[4]
The song is about turning the pain in your life around and its just really cool. Might be one of my new favorites. Inspirational!

Lyrics
"Superheroes"
All her life she has seen
All the meaner side of me
They took away the prophet's dream for a profit on the street
Now she’s stronger than you know
A heart of steel starts to grow
All his life he's been told
He’ll be nothing when he’s old
All the kicks and all the blows
He won't ever let it show
'Cause he's stronger than you know
A heart of steel starts to grow
When you've been fighting for it all your life
You've been struggling to make things right
That’s how a superhero learns to fly
Every day, every hour
Turn the pain into power
When you've been fighting for it all your life
You've been working every day and night
That’s how a superhero learns to fly
Every day, every hour
Turn the pain into power
All the hurt, all the lies
All the tears that they cry
When the moment is just right
You see fire in their eyes
'Cause he’s stronger than you know
A heart of steel starts to grow
When you've been fighting for it all your life
You've been struggling to make things right
That’s how a superhero learns to fly
Every day, every hour
Turn the pain into power
When you've been fighting for it all your life
You've been working every day and night
That’s how a superhero learns to fly
Every day, every hour
Turn the pain into power
Every day, every hour
Turn the pain into power
Every day, every hour
Turn the pain into power
She's got lions in her heart
A fire in her soul
He's a got a beast in his belly
That's so hard to control
'Cause they've taken too much hits
Taking blow by blow
Now light a match, stand back, watch them explode
She's got lions in her heart
A fire in her soul
He's a got a beast in his belly
That's so hard to control
'Cause they've taken too much hits
Taking blow by blow
Now light a match, stand back, watch them explode
When you've been fighting for it all your life
You've been struggling to make things right
That’s a how a superhero learns to fly

Turn the pain into power
When you've been fighting for it all your life
You've been working every day and night
That’s a how a superhero learns to fly
Every day, every hour
Turn the pain into power
Oh, yeah...
Every day, every hour
Turn the pain into power
Ooh, yeah
Whoa
Every day, every hour
Turn the pain into power
When you've been fighting for it all your life
You've been struggling to make things right
That’s how a superhero learns to fly

Secrets by Mary Lambert
New thing today, discovered a catchy pop new song I like - Secrets by Mary Lambert. Has a nice lesson too - having the confidence to just be yourself, faults and all. Definitely something I'm learning to do.

Death of an Uncle
New thing today, husband's uncle passed. I hardly knew the man. He lives in St. Charles, MO, so only really spent time with him twice in my entire life. He had been sick awhile. I remember him being grumpy trying to watch a sports game, but overall he seemed like a nice guy.
I suppose it's sad for us when someone dies, but I truly believe this is not our final destination, there is a higher power and we are all part of something bigger and better beyond. I think there's more to life than we can know, and that we pass into another state and evolve. Everyone has to die of something. It's all something we have to go through. I suppose we learn to roll with life's punches.
So here's to Monday. Here's to a man I hardly know, but I know he must have touched a lot of lives and made a lot of people happy. Now he's moved on and it was the end of this life, but I don't believe it's ever the end.

Organized Jewelry Collection
New thing today, organized my jewelry collection into these new hanger things. I hope it works :) been wanting something a bit more organized. Plus I'm visual so it was important to be able to see as much as possible. These were on sale at Joann's. I want more! Eh maybe I'll be minimalist and just work with what I have. Wooo! Feels good!

Roar - Rockwell
New thing today, watched the Roar performance at Rockwell. We enjoyed the Jagged Little Pill performance earlier and when we saw this on the list of shows we decided to give it a shot. Had dinner early and we were only able to get "partial view" seating tickets, but we still saw a lot.
Overall the show was good. The performances ranged from just ok to excellent. I liked Kyra Selman's voice the most and although some of her scenes she didn't have a ton of dramatic opportunities, in the end she rocked it insanely well and hers was my favorite voice! EVERYONE else also did incredibly well and we enjoyed it. I think overall we still really preferred the Jagged Little Pill performance, but I think this was highly enjoyable as we liked a ton of songs and grew to love and enjoy other new ones as well. I will be recommending this show to many people.
On a weird note, the non-performance night at the Rockwell was a little weird. Our waiter didn't know what he was doing and the service was pretty bad. The place was packed crowded so it was a little hard to get good attention and service. I also sat next to a weird guy who also bought a "partial view" ticket, yet felt the need to move his head and stick his body/head in front of me to get a good look at the performance when it was in another part of the room... weird rude. Also he made a giant crouching noise eating his nachos during one of the performances that was pretty hilarious and inappropriate. Also he liked to text, take photos and video during the show as well... ya. Oh and we sat in front of a grandpa and grandma taking their young grandkids to the show. There were quite a few adult parts, and I heard regular commentary in the background of the play by play "drama" that was happening, such as "they're on a date" and other obvious chatter. Thanks for the play by play gramps, I had no idea what was going on from the context....
I thought overall though the weirdness was funny because... I had a mega celebrity sighting! I won't say who it was because I value people's privacy, but it was pretty huge. Probably the most significant celebrity sighting I will ever have. And there were two of them! I walked by this couple quite a few times, and I could tell they were trying to keep it low key. Honestly it looked like they were just an in love couple trying to have a nice date night out on the town. They looked really down to earth and normal. I didn't stare or make a fuss, but after awhile a few people were bugging them asking for autographs and photos. I felt bad for them, and afterwards they left, I think because people couldn't just leave them alone? Hello? They are normal people, just a nice couple having a night out, and they weren't trying to bring any attention to themselves - actually sitting somewhere inconspicuous and keeping to themselves. Poor celebrities right? Well these two seemed like nice people taking a stab at normalcy, although they're probably used to all of it I guess? I thought they were pretty classy overall and I am more a fan now even though I was a pretty big fan before. Anyway they left at intermission before the second half of the show, which honestly was a pretty great half and I preferred the second half because it had better drama and song storytelling.
Anyway, so that was our evening :) Pretty awesome firsts!
Most importantly - go support theater and great performances! You may enjoy yourselves in the process!

Taster's Choice Singles - Decaf
New thing today, tried the Taster's Choice Singles - Decaf. Since I've been off the caffeine train lately, and I like the taste of coffee but no one makes decaf at work, decided to try these little singles. $1 at Target for a 6 pack. Tastes and smells really nice! Works well and I'll be getting more of these for my regular use :)

Jaws (1975)
New thing today, watched Jaws (1975). I was curious to watch this classic since I've never seen the whole thing. I still haven't. It was a bore. The beginning was great. Then it sort of takes 2 hours to get to the part where they finally kill Jaws (spoiler) but getting there just took so long. Somewhat interesting dramatic performances. I think overall though, I'm not afraid of the water, and I've seen too many Universal Studio tours to really be freaked out by the movie. Eh?

Maleficent (2014)
New thing today, watched Maleficent (2014). I enjoyed it but I didn't love it. It's quite sad and dramatic. Overall I like the different perspective and the twists. I also liked the magic part of the story. Overall visually it was interesting and held enough interest that my husband didn't hate it. Also makes me want to watch Sleeping Beauty as well. Good job Disney :)
