Jesus Loves You and You Too

New things today, unexpected kindness. Stressful annoying day at work and took a breather to just - ugh. As I was going back to work some stranger said “Jesus Loves You”. Was a bit surprising but also appreciated as I was having a rough time. I saw him say it to other people walking by. And another coworker said they got that greeting too. Just odd but nice I guess.

Then later that day there was a kid, bit rough and sassy, who always seems suspicious of me. I try to be nice but she seems reluctant. Tonight I said “have a good night” while walking by, not expecting any response. Delayed 5 seconds later she yells, “you too”. It wasn’t sarcastic or sassy, just regular. Very surprising and a nice thaw to her “too cool for you” facade.

Anyway some new things and highlights to the day. Just kinda nice.

Irena Sendler

New thing today, learned about Irena Sendler through Pinterest? Who knew? Saw this post and wow. We need to learn more about people like this!

Maybe I will start trying to find more stories like this - of people who are inspiring and who really are worth looking up to. There's a lot of flash around, and not a whole lot of substance sometimes in our heroes. Here's to spreading the word.

Dog & Seal encounter

New thing today, my dog met a wild seal. It was pretty cool. We were hanging out on the beach when a random wild seal decided to come up on the beach and sun itself. My dog decided to go over and check the seal out. There was a little bit of sniff and run away from my dog. There was also some defensive head nodding and a bark from the seal. Overall my dog got pretty close to the seal, sniffed, and they seemed to have a few magical seconds of a truce where they were ok with each other. Then we called my dog over and got her away, just to make sure nothing happened to either seal or dog. It was pretty frickin cool. Very very unique new thing today! Animals making friends!

My Friend - Offer Accepted - House :)

New thing today, my friend got her offer for a house accepted!!!! :) She's in the process of getting a real home! She moved, she lives in a more affordable part of America (not Southern California) and well she's been in the market for houses, and now is on her way to becoming a homeowner!

She is the first of my friends to actually get her own house. Everyone else that's a close friend has a condo or an apartment. Ah the joys of Southern California affordability.

I am beyond excited for her, and this is pretty remarkable and awesome news.

CHEERS FRIEND!!!!! Congratulations and hope the home-making process is a good one!

So excited!

New Year's Eve, Sleeping Early

New thing today, our plans for New Years Eve are to sleep early. Yup. It sounds glorious and I highly look forward to it. Yes it's a little lame balls, but we have something early and exciting to attend tomorrow, which I will be blogging about (hint, starts with an "R" and end with "ose parade"). That should be thrilling, miserable and worth blogging about.

And as the last post for 2013, I say, goodbye. It's been swell I suppose. Some bad things in retrospective, but I think I've grown, grown spiritually and shed some weight and bad stuff as well.

We're BBQing hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner and I am ridiculously excited for that as well. So this is the first time, new thing, we've ever "celebrated" the new year this way. We won't be staying up late to watch the ball drop. No forced attempt at merriment or social occasions, just sincere joy in doing things we love, and spending time together. We'll go to bed in 2013 and wake up in 2014.

May you have a Merry New Years Eve, and may 2014 bring lots of love, laughter, luck and l… (fill in blank) into your life.

Cheers! :)

Christmas in a Cemetery

New thing today, Christmas Eve, drove through a cemetery. Wasn't feeling morbid, just that there's one nearby and on a lunch break, decided to drive through just to see it. Usually they're very green and serene and relaxing, so just a little lunch detour before heading back to work. Anyway, I found it very sweet. I saw people decorating the graves for Christmas. I also saw an old man sitting on a chair next to a grave, obviously spending time. Appreciate your loved ones and in the spirit of Christmas, remember to cherish people! Here are a few shots.

Poinsettia

New thing today, got a poinsettia from our real estate agent. So not so new, but new this year, this time, every year she drops off a poinsettia plant for us. It's really nice and cool, and shows she thinks of us, cares and remembers us.

So also today's realization, is that, when the world (work) kicks you around and makes you feel smaller than small, there are people out there who love you, just the way you are, who understand and who care. Anyway today I was reminded of that, and the love of my friends and family is very much appreciated, especially these days that have been a lot rough on me.

So, this is a dedication to them :) Today, I get by with a little help from my friends :) Thanks!

Even though it's Friday the 13th, it's good to be home where the heart is.

Wallet Returned

New thing today, a coworker got his lost wallet back from a total stranger, with all money and items there, nothing missing. It was a really nice story. I guess coworker lost his wallet at a Farmer's Market. The "finder" was a Dad who wanted to teach his kids about responsibility, so he tracked down the coworker's parents through an address in the wallet, and was able to call coworker and find a way to exchange the wallet. Finder left the wallet somewhere hidden outside their house, so coworker could come by and pick it up. Coworker left a gift card for the finder, but never met the person.

Just a really nice heartwarming story, these days :)
