Chef (2014)

New thing today, watched Chef (2014). This came to our local cheap theater, so we had to give it a try ASAP! We didn't really feel it was a blockbuster full price worth movie, but it's totally worth a video rental or watching it at our local cheap theater. Although, it really is a good movie, so now that I've seen it, I would say it is worth supporting and going to a major movie theater to watch it. It was really cute and I liked it. If you like watching shows like Top Chef and are sort of a foodie, you will enjoy this. There's a lot of footage of cooking and creating delicious artsy and home delicious food. There's this silly scene were he makes grilled cheese but it was so... delicious! I also got excited at the food references to a Texas BBQ place and overall the story is quite nice. You will enjoy this, and you will probably get hungry, so I recommend watching this and then having a meal afterwards, such as Custom Melt in Moorpark - mmmmmm. You will be hungry, in a good way! Go support and watch this movie.

Udon Me Spicy - Noodle Nation Food Truck

New thing today, tried the Noodle Nation Food Truck and had an Udon Me Spicy - mild, with Tofu and vegetables. Super super tasty! It was all udon. I thought there would be soup, but there was none. Very good heat to it, and very flavorful. Excellent dish overall and I would get it again :) A few people got the spaghetti and enjoyed that as well. Also the little bowl and lid it came in was really cute! Try it!

Garbage Truck - Trash Wrap - Food Truck

New thing today, tried a Trash Wrap from The Garbage Truck - food truck. So it's called a Garbage Truck which is a little unsettling, and they offer a "trash wrap" which is a wrap with tons of stuff inside. Sounds horrible, right?

I was a little nervous at the Yelp reviews, because some people got physically ill, and there were a lot of bad reviews. People either hated it or loved it.

I loved it :)

I went in craving junk, but I also predicted it might taste horrible. I was prepared for whatever came my way. In the end, it was bizarre magic magic stuff.

They ran out of the Italian Sausage which I had my heart set on ordering. Instead I got a Hot Dog Wrap. Inside the monster it's basically TGT meat heat sauce (really good level of spice/heat), hot dog, french fries, macaroni salad, ketchup and mustard all wrapped in a tortilla. Holy smokes it was magic! I expected a greasy disgusting mess, but it ended up being pretty clean to eat. Surprisingly as well it wasn't very greasy at all. It was just a mad man tasty mix of stuff. I took a bunch of photos of the burrito to show you all.

The massive thing. I ate it in one sitting. Very bad for the healthy food lifestyle, but worth it once in awhile.

\

First bite of the burrito. You see the hot dog, french fries, ketchup, mustard and TGT meat sauce.

Another bite further into the burrito. You can see the macaroni salad, french fries and such.

I was thoroughly surprised I enjoyed this food and wasn't physically sick afterwards. I will rave about this and recommend it for people who like my kind of food. I'm a chili-cheese fries kind of girl. It will be hard resisting this truck in the future. As there is no low calorie option, will just have to eat it sparingly, or share it with someone :)

New favorite!

Banana Hammock from the Wicked Kitchen Food Truck

New thing today, ordered a Banana Hammock at the Wicked Kitchen food truck. Yup, it sounds so dirty ordering it. Anyway, new thing tried the Wicked Kitchen food truck. Very good quality gourmet food and although pricey, very tasty. I had some coworkers order the Korean Fried Chicken and they really enjoyed it, but didn't feel the portion was big enough. I was fine with my portion size as I'm watching my portion sizes anyway.

The Banana Hammock has blackened skewered shrimp, with a mix of coconut rice inside the banana, and a killer green sauce which was a bit wasabi yogurt-ish. I don't know what it was that composed everything, but it was really really tasty. Overall I was very happy with this truck and I would definitely try other items. Very high quality and definitely a gourmet food truck. A few people complained about the price and portion sizes, but I was fine with it.

Go try them! They are wicked good!

The Kosher Palate - Marinated Grilled Veggie Malawach Wrap

New thing today, tried The Kosher Palate food truck - a Marinated Grilled Veggie Malawach Wrap. Never had it before and the idea of a Kosher truck wasn't super unappealing. BUT it looked like they had killer tator tots with a fried egg, corned beef and other goodies. I was good and got the Veggie wrap - it was delicious! It had some spice heat which was nice, but might be a bit much for the tame. I enjoyed it! I really liked the malawach bread and it was great. I will eat this again and it was awesome! Check out their stuff below.
