Captain America The Winter Soldier (2014)

New thing today, watched Captain America The Winter Soldier (2014). This was awesome. It was a pretty solid movie overall and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

No spoilers, but I loved the plot twists, characters and story. It had great story, action and drama. Comedy was there too and I thought they did all the movie elements incredibly well. The audience was engrossed and involved and I'm not the only fan after what I've heard from a few people. Loved it! I would be willing to watch it again in the theater.

There is one fabulous part its a teeny spoiler - alert! It's a nod to Sam Jackson and in one scene it references "The Righteous Man" with a nod to his brilliant Pulp Fiction monologue. I just thought it was funny and clever and one of my favorite parts :) ok that's it.

Go see it!

Ostrich Land

New thing today, met and fed some ostrich and emu. We found ourselves in Buellton CA when we decided to take a day trip to Solvang. On our way we saw an Ostrich Land sign above a little gift shop looking place. I thought maybe they would sell ostrich meat and it might be fun to check it out, so we did.

Turns out they didn't have ostrich meat but they had self guided tours where for $5 per person you could buy feed, check out the animals and feed them. So we tried it and it turned out being a ton of fun and a highlight to our day out.

We saw Emus, Ostrich and baby birds (didn't know which ones they were). It was fun! I loved watching the giant birds with their dinosaur feet and snake necks. So cool. Feeding them was fun too and we both preferred the emus when feeding as they seemed more polite. The ostrich just seemed like jerks.

Anyway it was fabulous and a lot of fun. Check it out if you're in that area :) I highly recommend it for all ages. Just follow directions and don't get pecked by the giant dinosaur birds.

Custom Melt Moorpark

New thing today, tried Custom Melt in Moorpark. Amazing delicious food. Complementary chips and cheese dip come with every meal - and it's awesome. Better than the fries which were bland after adding salt. Irish melt with corned beef and Russian slaw was incredible! Husband got Go Green which was delectable as well. Red wine with the meal was also fab! Great way to end a hard week. Thank you Husband! Happy Friday folks!

Carb & Nation food truck

New thing today, tried a brand new food truck Carb & Nation, as well as their shrimp bun and dry cucumber soda. This truck is brand spanking new. They started just last week and I think their official grand opening is tomorrow. Anyway it even looked and smelled like a new truck and we were excited to try it.

Service was prompt and polite. My shrimp bun was spicy and savory. I loved the sweet bun around it too - the flavors went well together. I would have liked more crunch from more shrimp chip bits or dare I say salad or lettuce or something. It was like an Asian poboy and not deep fried. I liked it and would probably get it again. Great price too for $3.50.

I also decided to try the dry cucumber soda as I enjoy cucumber water and club soda. It was good! I still find it weird that a drink can be described as "dry" but yes it was very dry, in that wine way, but without the buzz. I think I would have preferred something sweeter though as I was in that mood. But if you feel like having flavored club soda it's pretty unique and interesting - $2.50.

Their main menu items looked good and from what I heard people liked them. The only thing is they're one of the pricier food trucks with main dishes going for $9 or so and tax included can bump youse costs up. I want to try their date side dish and overall this is one of the new gourmet trucks out there. Good luck and hope it does well.

Under Siege (1992) DVD

New thing today, my very own DVD copy of Under Siege (1992). I love this movie. It's so wonderful action ridiculousness. I also love smart villains and capers, and this is definitely one. I love Die Hard and this is very reminiscent of it. I was cheesy excited to get this and am watching it now. It's just as good as I remember watching it as a youngin. Don't be ashamed to love your cheesy movies :) I recommend this to those who liked the first 2 Die Hards, or anyone who likes action movies.

Cat Effects

New thing today, played with a stupid app called Cat Effects. It was pretty fun and funny. My sister started sending me random photos of her or the family with cats and talked about the app, so I played with it too and sent some photos back to her. You just take some photos and insert cats into it. So stupid but so funny.
