Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon - Kirkland

New thing today, tried the Kirkland Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon from Costco. It comes frozen with filets that have skin. These are actually the wrong salmon. We usually get a different frozen salmon filet, farm raised I believe, with no skin, also from Costco. I like salmon skin so when we brought this home and found it was different, I was willing to try it out.

Disappointing! I did the exact same thing I usually do with the other salmon, which is bake it with olive oil and some salt. Turned out overcooked and tasted odd, and the salmon skin didn't crisp up but just sorta was there.

It's fine, edible and probably more nutrients with the wild salmon and skin, and possibly less fat. I still prefer the taste and texture of the other kind of salmon though. I don't really enjoy this one as much, but ah well, at least it's healthy. Perhaps next time I will cook it for less time and turn the salmon skin down instead of up.
