Blue Hawaii (1961)

New thing today, watched Blue Hawaii (1961) starring Elvis. It popped up on the Netflix choices of musicals, so decided to give it a try. Very South Pacific tropical and some silly drama and love triangle comedy. Mainly it was fun to watch for the retro feel of the thing. I was surprised I fell in love with the part where Elvis sings "Fools Rush In" to a grandma, which was pretty sweet and romantic. I can see how that scene really made that song romantic. Never really liked that song until now :) A first. The music was just ok, and the story was a little silly but ok. Interesting seeing Angela Lansbury as a fussy mom. Also interesting to see the Asian/Hawaiian stereotypes and the Mad Men quality of the times.

So yes, new thing, new movie. Since I've given up TV shows for Lent, I'll probably post a lot more about movies since that's all I'll be watching nowadays.

Also - it was just fun to watch beautiful Hawaii in the background. Could use a vacation now :)
