Tommy's Tamale

New thing of the day, tried a Tommy's Tamale.

I began my love affair with chili cheese fries at the Original Tommy's. We've been going there since I was a kid. For years I always got the chili cheese fries. Today I saw a tamale on the menu, so decided to try it out.

This is what it looked like.

Pretty gross eh. It tasted like chili and mush. I couldn't even taste the tamale. There's meat and the cornmeal, but covered with the chili, cheese, onion, pickles and tomato, just covered it up and didn't add to it at all. 

I was starving when we ate there too, so the tamale should have tasted better, but it didn't. It was a texture thing. Too much mush, not enough solids. I liked the tomato and the chili is great, but it really needed something solid. Plus we could not distinguish the taste apart from the chili and the tamale. 

This was a fail. If I do order it again, I will try it without the chili and fixings. I'll have to find new favorites at Tommy's and not just the chili cheese fries. Oh well. At least I tried it and now I know.
